How to refill the forklift battery in winter

At low temperature (below 0℃), when the battery power is about 50%, the electrolyte will have the risk of icing. The electrolyte is composed of water and sulfuric acid. The higher the sulfuric acid content, the greater the proportion of the electrolyte, the lower the freezing temperature will be.

In winter, when adding water to the battery, it should be fully charged and the ambient temperature should not be too low, so that the electrolyte and water can be mixed evenly. Otherwise, the uneven mixing will cause the water floating above the electrolyte to freeze.

1. When the lead-acid battery of forklift is not in use, it should be stored in the house above 0℃. Before storage, the external of the battery should be cleaned, the battery should be fully charged, and the power switch should be turned off.

2. In winter, when the battery is discharged by 50%, the electrolyte is at risk of freezing. The electrolyte consists of water and sulfuric acid. The higher the amount of sulfuric acid in the electrolyte, the higher the specific gravity of the electrolyte and the lower the temperature at which the electrolyte freezes.

3. The temperature of the electrolyte has a great impact on the capacity of the battery, the ambient temperature is reduced by 1℃ (standard temperature 25°), the capacity is reduced by 1~2%. Therefore, to improve the temperature of the electrolyte, the forklift truck should be parked indoors, or the battery should be moved into the room above 0℃.

4. The battery should be added to the distilled water and the electrolyte mixed evenly. If it is not mixed well enough, the distilled water floating on top of the electrolyte will freeze. Therefore, winter to add distilled water to the battery, should pay attention to add distilled water after full charge, can make the electrolyte and distilled water quickly mixed, will not be frozen.
