With the continuous strengthening of domestic environmental protection requirements, the electric forklift market share continues to rise. As the heart of an electric forklift, the life of the battery is directly related to the life of the forklift. Therefore, battery technical experts will introduce how to extend the service life of the forklift battery.
1、The change of battery liquid level, when charge and discharged
(1)When the battery is discharged( forklift is working):When the battery is charged, the gas generated in the pores of the battery plate continuously emerges due to vibration, so the liquid level of the battery will drop slightly.
(2)When the battery is charged:In the pores of the battery plate, a large amount of gas is generated by the electrolysis of water under the action of the current. These gases will cause the volume of the battery electrolyte to increase and the liquid level to rise.
2、About the loss of battery electrolyte
(1) When the battery is charging, especially in the middle and later stages of charging, the phenomenon of electrolysis of water occurs under the action of the charging current, and the water in the battery fluid is electrolyzed. Hydrogen (negative electrode) and oxygen (positive electrode) are produced and precipitated, resulting in a large consumption of water in the electrolyte
(2) The electrochemical reaction of the battery is violent in the middle and later stages of charging, and the exhaust gas will splash out of the battery with the battery liquid, but the amount of splashing is very small, which will also affect the electrolyte level of the battery to some extent.
(3) During the charging process, if the electrolyte level of the battery is too high, a large amount of electrolyte will overflow and flow to the bottom of the battery box due to the volume expansion of the battery electrolyte. In addition to causing loss of electrolyte, it will also cause damage to the battery box. Corrosion will seriously affect the normal use of the battery. In order to avoid this situation, the height of the battery electrolyte liquid level should be strictly controlled.
3、Why need to add distilled water
(1)In the middle and later stages of charging, a large amount of electrolyzed water reaction occurs, which is the main reason that the lack of water in the battery electrolyte.
(2) At any time, no matter how the electrolyte level of the battery changes, the electrolyte must cover the plate (the plate should not be exposed to the battery fluid), so that the lead on the battery plate and the sulfuric acid in the electrolyte are fully reacted.
(3) The battery should keep the proper specific gravity of the electrolyte during working, and maintain the consistency of the specific gravity of the electrolyte between the individual cells. Otherwise, it is difficult to ensure the consistency of all battery performance.
4、How to add water
(1) It is recommended to perform it in the middle and later stages of battery charging, when the volume of the electrolyte is most expanded.
(2) Regularly observe and measure the height of the electrolyte liquid level, the liquid level should be kept within the specified standard range, not too low or too high
(3) After replenishing the water, the liquid level of the battery electrolyte must not exceed the specified upper line, otherwise it will easily cause the electrolyte to overflow when the battery is charged, resulting in the loss of sulfuric acid, corroding the box and polluting the environment.
(4)If the liquid level is too low, the battery plate will be exposed to air, and the contact with the air will cause the plate to oxidize, and the specific gravity of the electrolyte will be too high.
