The use and cycle life of forklift batteries are inseparable from daily maintenance. An essential step in maintenance is to regularly replenish the battery with distilled/deionized water. In the process of charging, discharging and storage, the battery will evaporate some water due to the use of the environment and internal high temperature reaction. If you do not add water to the battery, the battery will be short of water for a long time, which will shorten the service time and end the life in advance.
So, how do we add water to the forklift battery? When do you add it? How do I add it? How much should I add?
At present, the market is mainly divided into three kinds of liquid injection caps: ordinary basket type liquid injection caps, buoy type liquid injection caps and automatic water injection caps. Different water injection caps have different water adding methods and liquid level standards. The normal liquid level range of forklift battery is as follows
1. When using the battery, check the water shortage status of the battery regularly according to the operating environment and temperature, and refill the battery in time.
2. If the battery liquid level is lower than the lowest liquid level, add deionized water or distilled water between the highest and lowest liquid level. Do not add battery stock solution or tap water. The battery stock solution will dilute or increase the specific gravity of the electrolyte, resulting in battery performance degradation. Tap water contains too much impurities, will lead to thin battery reaction, long-term addition of tap water may cause short circuit, damage the battery.
3. water time: the use of the battery is not recommended to add water, should be at the end of the charging water (an hour before the end of charging), charging the battery internal bubble billow, severe reaction, at this time add water can make the original electrolyte and water fully mixed together, play the proportion of the balance effect.
4. the principle of adding water: a small number of times, it is forbidden to add too much water beyond the highest level. If too much water is added, the forklift battery may overflow during charging and moving, which may cause the overall proportion of the battery to decrease, performance degradation, water accumulation and corrosion in the box, and even battery short circuit in serious cases.
5. Before using the forklift battery, users should read the battery manual and warning label on the battery box carefully, and try to add water to the forklift battery according to this standard, which is helpful to efficient use and correct maintenance of the battery, and prolong the service life of the battery.
