Forklift battery maintenance is very important to extend its life and enhance the performance of forklift accessories. Regular testing and maintenance can completely extend its service life.
1. keep the forklift battery clean when the forklift stops working. Prevent battery corrosion, leakage of current or short circuit of chassis. Tighten all hole plugs, clean them with water and a brush, and dry them with an air hose. If the top of the forklift battery cannot be cleaned using water, consider using sodium bicarbonate solution.
2. before charging the electric forklift battery, the electrode plate should be covered with distilled water to ensure that the chemical reaction is uniform on the surface of the entire electrode plate. After charging, water is added again until the liquid level is about 12.7 mm from the electrode plate. Use distilled or pure water.
3. the correct charging method of forklift battery. The forklift battery can be recharged after the discharge reaches 80% of its capacity. Before re-use, it should be cooled for 4 to 8 hours to make its voltage stable. A balanced charge should be carried out once a month (an extra three to four hours with a low interruption rate) to ensure that all units are fully charged. Fully charged batteries should be marked to prevent uncharged batteries from being installed on the forklift.
4. do not let the forklift continue to work when the forklift battery is low. Continued operation may damage the battery and cause higher than normal current flow in the forklift electric control system. The high current caused by the low battery can damage the contacts of the forklift contactors. Thus shorten the life of forklift motor brush.
5. the maximum temperature of the forklift battery is also very important. During operation or charging, the electrolyte temperature should never exceed 43 degrees (110°F). Overcharging can cause overheating and bend the electrodes of the forklift battery. The battery's maximum service life depends on maintaining an electrolyte temperature of 25 degrees (77°F). The vast majority of charging devices are fully automatic, but they should be checked regularly to ensure the correct working sequence.
6. Maintain the accuracy of forklift battery records. Often use the forklift battery test or voltmeter to test the battery and make a written record. The specific gravity and voltage of each unit should be tested and recorded once a month. The test should be carried out after balanced charging. Readings should not be taken directly after adding distilled water. All forklift battery maintenance should be documented and documented so that it is easy to know which battery has been abused or broken. The repair of the forklift battery should be carried out immediately, the forklift battery may be damaged. Due to the formation of sulfate, if the battery is stored in the discharge state, it may increase the difficulty of recharging.
