Lithium-ion batteries are charged with constant charge and constant voltage, while lead-acid is charged in three stages.

 

Since lead-acid battery chargers are typically set to two - or three-stage charging modes, the voltage levels of lithium-ion batteries and lead-acid batteries do not match. And there are many kinds of lithium-ion batteries, battery performance and battery protection panel parameters may not be the same. So lithium-ion batteries don't have universal battery chargers like lead-acid batteries do. Typically, lithium-ion batteries come out of the factory with a dedicated charger. To protect lithium-ion batteries, use a special charger.

 

Lithium-ion battery charging control is to charge in accordance with the constant current, and then when the battery voltage rises to 4.2V, the voltage will no longer rise, the charger to detect the current, if the current is less than a certain value, the end of the charge. Lithium is sensitive to overcharge, so the protection circuit is complex. The maximum rated charging voltage for a single nominal 3.6V battery is 4.2V, and the upper limit of allowable error is not more than 1%.

 

The ideal charging current of lead-acid battery is pulse type. Pulse charging is best when we use 50-60HZ mains power directly rectified without filtering pulsating DC charging (this is based on simple circuit and low cost). Because the self-discharge rate of lead-acid battery is relatively large, constant voltage charging is generally used when using power frequency charging (it will certainly be limited flow).

 

Lead-acid battery:

Lead-acid batteries are a complex system of chemical reactions. External factors such as the amount of charging and discharging current and its operating temperature will affect the performance of the battery. It is a key technology of electric vehicle to calculate the SOC value of the battery and determine the running mode of the vehicle according to the running state of the vehicle and other parameters. Lead-acid battery has the longest application history, is also the most mature, the lowest cost and selling price of the battery, has realized mass production. But it has low energy, high self-discharge rate and low cycle life.

 

Lead-acid battery charging mode:

1. Pulse charging is simple and economical. The charging current of this method is large and the charging speed is fast, but the disadvantage is that when the grid voltage fluctuates, the charging current also fluctuates.

2, constant current charging, in order to prevent the temperature rise of the lead-acid battery and electrolyte loss is too large, the charging current is relatively small, to charge for a long time, on the other hand, charging time is too long, will occur over charge, in order to prevent damage to the battery due to overcharge, need to set another charge detection or time circuit.

3, constant voltage charging, theory and practice have proved that when the charging voltage is lower than the upper limit of the charging voltage (for 12V battery, this value is), constant voltage charging is safe, even if the charging time is very long, there is no danger, if you want, the battery can also work in the floating charging state.

 

Lithium ion battery:

Lithium-ion battery power charging to use a matching charger, in the industrial market, because each product is also a separate package, not common, therefore, should be based on the use of lithium-ion battery pack to choose the corresponding charger, charging in strict accordance with the requirements. Whether it is industrial or civil market, because the basic principle of lithium-ion battery charging is the same, therefore, the steps and standards of lithium-ion battery charging can be standardized, under normal circumstances, the nominal voltage of lithium-ion battery is 3.7V, full voltage is 4.2V.
